Kozue

The Soul of Zen Art Kozue, Founder & Artist

I used to run a small café. I loved coffee, poured my heart into every cup, and cherished the conversations with every guest who walked through the door. Looking back, perhaps it was inevitable that jagua art would find me.

A natural dye born from plants, resting on the skin as delicate art, then quietly fading after two weeks. That impermanence reminded me of something I had always felt — the teachings of Zen. Sometimes, what doesn't last forever leaves the deepest mark.

Born and raised in Japan, I am a true daughter of this culture. The kanji, the seasons, the silence between words — these are not things I learned. They are simply who I am. As a single mother, I have learned that strength and softness are not opposites. They live together, in every line I draw.

The time we spend together is something a little different. A chance to step away from the noise of daily life and simply breathe. Whatever you've felt on your journey, whatever has quietly settled in your heart — I want this to be a space where you can gently let it go. Talk as much as you like, or simply sit in stillness. Either way, just breathe deeply and be here.

Botanical art is my specialty — florals and plants that carry the quiet strength of nature.

Zen lives quietly in everything I do — in the way I listen, in the way I draw, in the way I make a cup of coffee. It is not a philosophy I follow. It is simply the way I breathe.

I would love to meet you. Sit with you. Hear your story. And with my hands, create something that is yours alone.
